The signing officially marked a new partnership between both educational institutions in the field of Mathematics education.
On Friday (15/2/2019), the signing ceremony took place in Sampoerna University campus, L’Avenue Office Building. Two representatives of the institutions signed the document: Dr. Wahdi Salasi April Yudhi (Sampoerna University Rector) and Dr. Wahyudi (SEAQiM).
The signing ceremony was conducted right after Educator Sharing Network (ESN), a sharing session forum periodically held by the Faculty of Education of Sampoerna University. The recent event was titled “Scaffolding in the Mathematics Classroom” and was open for public.
Three speakers were on stage to share their views and thoughts on the topic: Diajeng Andina (Principal of Kembang Elementary School), Budi Poniam (a faculty member of Mathematics Education, the Faculty of Education, Sampoerna University), and Wahid Yunianto (SEAQiM specialist), with the last speaker revealed mathematics learning trajectory.
As a follow-up action plan, pre-service teachers at SU from both Mathematics Education (MEdu) and English Education (EEd) study programs are encouraged to explore various ways in which scaffolding can be applied, how mathematics learning trajectory can be applied as a framework to assist teachers design scaffolding activities in mathematics classrooms; and various ways to develop teachers professional skills in scaffolding, especially in mathematics classrooms.
