Mr. Santo, the Person in Charge (PIC) of the industrial visit to PT Bintang Sempurna, graciously accepted an invitation from the CEO of PT Bintang Sempurna. The purpose of this visit was to explore the advancements in print industry technology. Through this collaborative effort, it is anticipated that partnerships can be forged, leading to potential internships or employment opportunities for Sampoerna University graduates within the print industry.
On October 24, 2023, FET lecturers from Sampoerna University embarked on an industry visit to PT Bintang Sempurna. The delegation was led by Mr. Surya Danusaputro Liman, the dean of FET. This visit was prompted by an invitation from PT Bintang Sempurna to discuss the demand for Sampoerna University graduates in the industry. Additionally, the aim was to determine the most relevant curriculum adjustments that could align with technological advancements in the Industry 4.0 era, particularly in the field of print.
The meeting with PT Bintang Sempurna’s CEO, Mr. Laurensius Candra, and his team took place as scheduled at 10:00 am. Upon arrival, the FET team was warmly greeted, and a group photo was taken. The photo, later to be compiled into a book, served as a thoughtful souvenir from PT Bintang Sempurna.
Following the introductions, the event commenced with a presentation on the print industry’s needs by Mr. Donny, the manager of PT Bintang Sempurna. The presentation highlighted the rapid growth in the printing world, fueled by the advent of indigo and flatbed machines that revolutionized printing processes. Mr. Donny and Mr. Laurensius elaborated on the significance of color in meeting design challenges and supporting the creativity of designers.
Subsequently, FET Sampoerna University lecturers were given a comprehensive tour of the PT Bintang Sempurna factory and production area. High-tech machines crucial to the printing process were explained in detail by Mr. Laurensius.
The tour also included a visit to the creative gallery, where the collaboration between PT Bintang Sempurna and Indonesian designers was showcased. The exhibited works, recipients of numerous awards and trophies, underscored the transformative power of modern technology and designer innovation in the print industry.
After exploring various printing machines and finishing processes, a productive question and answer session took place in PT Bintang Sempurna’s creative room. Each participant received a creatively designed book with their name, offering a unique insight into the evolution of the printing industry.
Discussions continued, focusing on potential collaboration between institutions to meet the workforce needs of PT Bintang Sempurna. Attendees included Mr. Surya Danusaputro – the dean of FET, Mr. Iwan Setiawan – the head of CRCS, Mr. Tombak Matahari – HoD VCD, Mr. Budi Hadi Sujanto – manager of Mechatronic Lab, Mr. Santo Tjhin and Ms. Sinta – representatives from Fetinadec.
The industrial visit provided FET lecturers with valuable insights and experiences related to the advancements in the print industry. The knowledge gained during this visit is anticipated to benefit the Sampoerna University community, particularly the Visual Communication Design study program. The visit concluded with a group photo, capturing the memorable interactions between the institutions involved.
