Sampoerna University’s Computer Science and Information System students recently had the unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the dynamic world of media and technology during an industrial visit to the MNC Tower, home to RCTI+ (MNC Group’s digital platform). The visit encompassed a comprehensive office tour, engaging sharing sessions by industry experts, and reflections from students, providing a holistic understanding of the digital landscape and its applications.
The visit commenced with an extensive tour of the MNC Group’s facilities, providing a glimpse into the company’s operational hub. Participants explored key areas, including the lobby, conference hall, and innovation center. This firsthand experience allowed students to witness the synergy between technology and media in a real-world setting.
MNC Digital/RCTI+ Chief Technology Officer, Rio Anugrah, set the tone for the visit with a welcoming speech. He shared invaluable insights into the company’s digital initiatives and the pivotal role technology plays in MNC’s day-to-day operations. This session served as a compass, guiding students through the intersection of media and technology.
The visit proceeded with a presentation from Ciptadi Lin, the Head of the Software Engineer Department at RCTI+, about a compelling case study on building microservices. This session delved into challenges, benefits, and the best practices associated with microservices architecture. The emphasis on scalability, flexibility, seamless content delivery to enhance user experience, and easier maintenance provided valuable insights into RCTI+’s approach to modern software development.
Prayuga Oktaviano, an Android Developer at RCTI+, shared profound insights on Android development. As the majority of users engage with digital content through mobile devices, this session highlighted the importance of responsive apps, user experience, and efficient code optimization. Students gained a deeper understanding of the tools, technologies, and continual improvement strategies employed in Android app development.
The next session was from Fahrul Sidik, a DevOps Specialist at RCTI+. He guided students on the role of DevOps in software development. The session provided a roadmap for those aspiring to become DevOps professionals, stressing collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement. Real-world examples from RCTI+, including the use of tools like Jira, Jenkins, and Kubernetes, illustrated the practical implementation of DevOps principles.
The visit also featured a session with Lareni Manda, Head of QA at RCTI+, shedding light on the software testing life within the company. The discussion covered the importance of quality assurance, various testing phases, and automation tools used, such as Ruby Cucumber. RCTI+’s insights emphasized the continuous testing approach throughout the development cycle to ensure product reliability and quality.
