The aforementioned partnership would improve the skills of teachers in Indonesia that eventually fulfill the increasing demand of high quality education worldwide.
Serving a growing need of high quality schools and teachers, Cambridge International and Sampoerna University are committed to provide the teachers with the ability to develop students with the essential 21st century skills and prepare them to face global challenges. One of which is to teach subject teachers’ the skills required to develop students’ entrepreneurship and language proficiency.
As part of our commitment to continuously enhance teachers’ professional knowledge, Cambridge International and Sampoerna University are conducting two days training for five Cambridge IGCSE subjects delivered by accredited Cambridge Trainers on 4 – 5 October 2017 in Sampoerna Academy Campus – Pancoran, Jakarta. This October training marks our second collaboration to conduct professional development for teachers in Indonesia.
Gusman Yahya, Head of Putera Sampoerna Foundation –School Development Outreach said, “As part of our commitment to improve the quality of educators, PSF – SDO actively engages with highly reputable international education institution to continuously produce quality graduates who are able to compete in global market and prepare them to be work- ready and world- ready by providing comprehensive educational experience. The partnership with Cambridge International would create bigger opportunity, in terms of access and affordability, for schools and educators to have high quality professional development.”
The October trainings provide teachers with an opportunity to unpack the curriculum of Economics, Business Studies, English, Chinese, and Indonesian Language to better understand bigger picture of learning outcomes. Embracing the value of active participation and hands-on approaches, Cambridge’s accredited trainers apply various teaching methods to meet the desired learning goals that later can be replicated in their real classroom. This provides an excellent opportunity for teachers in Indonesia to benefit from the two days subject training, which also allows them to learn from expert peers.
Ben Schmidt, Regional Director Southeast Asia & Pacific, Cambridge Assessment International Education said: ‘As the cohort of Indonesian Cambridge learners grows each year, we felt it became essential to develop our local teacher training capacity and expand our offering of professional development courses for Cambridge teachers and schools across Indonesia. We look forward to working with the Putera Sampoerna Foundation who will be supporting the delivery of our teacher professional development courses in Indonesia in the future.’
Cambridge Assessment International Education and Sampoerna University will continue to co-organize a series of teacher training events for Cambridge schools in the future. The collaboration would surely provide more opportunities for teachers to engage with Cambridge syllabuses in greater depth and build confidence in their delivery.
