Choosing The Right Employment Starts From Choosing The Right University
Many young graduates are having difficulties finding jobs because of a major skills gap. Indonesia faces the most severe youth unemployment problem with close to 20 percent of the country’s youth not being able to find a job — the highest among the countries surveyed in the report, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
The fact that one in three young Indonesians remain unemployed for 12 months, despite having a tertiary education, reflects a mismatch between the skills that Indonesia’s youth possess and the skills that industries require, according to an Asian Development Bank (ADB) report.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo stated that human resource development has become the second focus for the government after infrastructure, highlighting on curriculum innovation and education system. The President stated that there has been no basic improvement in education in Indonesia for the last 30 years and hopes to change this.
To provide opportunities for aspiring and bright young students and parents who want to ensure that their children can become Game Changers in Indonesia’s rapidly evolving economy was the cause behind the establishment of the Sampoerna University. Sampoerna University stands for access to an internationally-recognized education made possible and accessible to the students in Indonesia. It was born from recognition that there is an urgent need for high-quality internationally-recognized education pathways, to fulfil Indonesia’s future demand for a higher education and skilled workforce. The Sampoerna University is part of the first fully integrated education system in Indonesia to apply an internationally-recognized curriculum in English with a focus on STEAM (Science, technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) so students can develop skills in communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
