In response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak and the government’s declaration to close all schools and campuses in Jakarta, Sampoerna University has taken several steps to ensure that its students and employees are protected and safe. One of these steps is by suspending face-to-face classes as of 16 March 2020 and switching to online, distant learning to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
Marshall Schott, Ph.D. (President of Sampoerna University) stated, “Our university has applied an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of its students and employees. Effective 18 March 2020, instruction will resume through distance learning.”
He further explained that all students are expected to continue learning using Canvas platform. In the meantime, access to remote services, including library resources, will not be impacted during this period.
To overcome challenges that may arise when shifting instructional modes during the middle of the academic term, Sampoerna University has also prepared the required guidance and resources. This is how our students can still learn during the closure of the campus.
For our students who are now taking Two-Degree Program, distant learning like this is familiar. They can still study with the U.S. Curriculum without leaving their family members and best friends in Jakarta. The best thing is they can still graduate with 2 degrees at the same time: a U.S. accredited bachelor’s degree from University of Arizona and a Strata 1 (Sarjana) degree from Sampoerna University, allowing them to grab both national and international career opportunities. Two-Degree Program is uniquely designed for students who want to save education expenses while getting the same international education in their homeland. It also enables them to avoid long-distance international trips that are very risky amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
But for those who still want to stick to their plans to study abroad, they can also earn internationally acknowledged college credits which are transferable to a U.S. university once the pandemic is over and they decide to finish their education overseas.
Make up your mind now to graduate safely on time. Don’t waste your precious years!
