On October 29th, 2019, Sampoerna University officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a partnership with PT. Flexitech Evolusindo. The signing ceremony was joined by the representatives of both parties: Dr. Wahdi Yudhi (rector of Sampoerna University) and Eka Febrian Sutanto (CEO of PT. Flexitech Evolusindo). Previously on the same day, Mr. Sutanto gave a general lecture (senior colloquium) titled “Chances & Challenges in Technopreneurship”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Eng. Farid Triawan (Head of Mechanical Engineering Study Program) explained in a great length about the scope and background of the partnership. “The MoU comprises internship admission partnership, final year projects, and the development of plastic bottle recycling machines development. In this case, PT. Flexitech Evolusindo will provide a sum of fund for the development of these machines,” he elaborated.
He further said that the collaboration is realized in order for the university to know more about the industry needs, especially ones in the mechanical engineering field. Prior to the MoU, there were two students of Sampoerna University working as interns in the company.
Afterwards, the rector gladly welcomed the partnership, saying,” This collaboration is expected to help achieve the ‘link and match’ vision, which is hailed highly by Ministry of National Education (Kemendikbud Dikti).
In response to the positive feedback, Mr. Sutanto also extended his enthusiasm about the education partnership with students of Mechanical Engineering Study Program. “I thank Sampoerna University for the feedback regarding the collaborative project in research and technology development of plastic bottle recycling machines.”
The alumnus of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) added that students of Mechanical Engineering Study Program at Sampoerna University show great performance at work. Mr. Sutanto was also impressed by the enthusiasm shown by Sampoerna University team right from the very beginning of the project.
“I hope that this collaboration can also be forged with another study program at this university,” Mr. Sutanto finally added. (*/)
