SU Establishes Cooperation with University of Arizona

Jakarta, 30 November 2017 – Realizing the importance of developing the best curriculum for producing work-ready graduates who can compete on the global stage, Sampoerna University establishes cooperation with University of Arizona. During their visit to Indonesia, Dr. Paul Goes, Dean and Halle Chair in Leadership at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management and Brent T. White, Vice Provost for International Education at University of Arizona had the opportunity of meeting Dr. Marshall Schott, Chief Academic Officer of Sampoerna University and Prof. Wahdi Salasi April Yudhi PhD, Rector of Sampoerna University.

“Since its inception, Sampoerna University has maintained the commitment of providing the best education through a global partnership—which as of now includes universities in the United States, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia—to develop the best curriculum, educational methodology, and development pathway. The curriculum we have developed is held in high standards, not only on the national level but internationally,” stated Prof. Yudhi.

“By partnering with the University of Arizona, Sampoerna University reaffirms its commitment to providing access to internationally-recognized education for students in Indonesia. For the initial phase, Sampoerna University will collaborate with the University of Arizona to develop the curriculum used in the Faculty of Business of Sampoerna University. In the future, this cooperation will also cover our Faculty of Engineering and Technology,” elaborated Dr. Schott.

The University of Arizona is a public research university founded in 1885 and one of the largest public institutions in the States with vast academic offerings for its students. The Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona is a business school with an international reputation due to its innovative research, competitive curriculum, renowned faculties, excellence in entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. The Eller College of Management implements a curriculum designed to maximize the interaction of students by emphasizing on teamwork.

Dr. Paul Goes explained: “The Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an international accreditation association for business management program at undergraduate and postgraduate level.”

“There are 5,800 students attend the Eller College of Management at Arizona. Over 43,000 attend the University of Arizona, which hailed from 112 countries, including Indonesia. Through this partnership with Sampoerna University, we offer an opportunity for students in Indonesia to experience the curriculum used in the University of Arizona without having to go to the United States,” expressed Mr. White.

“This cooperation with the University of Arizona is most welcome, considering we share the same vision, which is to educate the future leaders who will demonstrate leadership, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. As a result of this collaboration, courses offer at Sampoerna University will be recognized for credit towards business degree offered by University of Arizona,” concluded Dr. Schott.
